Protection from corrosion
Drilling holes to gain access is frowned upon because hot metal fillings from drilling fall to the bottom of a panel and destroy the e-coating around the hole and where they collect, this then leads to corrosion. Painting around the hole before using a grommet does not protect from corrosion. Manufacturers rust warranty is void as soon as hole is drilled. Aluminium panels require different skills, lifting with steel tools can cross contaminate and will also corrode over a few years. The only way forward for double skinned areas is glue, which is an art in itself on complex double skinned dents. If comparing prices always look for a technician with 10 years or more, of experience and who has passed the strict exams to qualify as an IMI accredited technician. This qualification is a pass/fail exam and is expensive to take.
Paintless Dent Removal
Most door dings, creases and hail damage do not actually have any paint damage to begin with. A body shop will typically just “fill” the dent in with putty, sand it down smooth, and repaint the panel and sometimes will have to partially paint the adjacent panels to make the paint appear to match. Anytime you paint your car you depreciate it’s value.
